It's been my experience that a number of our clients in years past have had a security system as only a formality, and not necessarily for security. Maybe they get a break on their insurance, maybe they have the peace of mind and knowing that they could use it if they wanted to, or maybe they just like the window decals.
My belief is that they may be reluctant to use their systems because they don't know how it's going to behave when they are not there. Translation: they don't want to piss off their neighbors.
Our interactive service is a lot of things, but first and foremost it's peace of mind. It allows you the ability to manage your system from your phone, and since most of us might hold our phones in the same reverence as we might a prosthetic limb, it's safe to say it's everywhere we are, and all of the time. When armed with our interactive service, you are the first to know when there's an issue.
Yes, but what does it mean to manage my system? Well, I'm glad you asked. As different systems have different capabilities, I'll start with the basics. You can arm and disarm the system, you can manage users, you can receive notifications of alarm events and check event history. For more advanced systems you can turn on and off the lights, lock and unlock doors, adjust the thermostat, open the garage door, and the list goes on.
We recently added a couple other features that have proven very useful. The first gives you the ability to acknowledge a false alarm right from the app. This action sends a message to our Central station indicating that the alarm they just received is in fact a false alarm and that they do not need to call or dispatch the authorities. The second feature provides you an in-app panic button. Yes, the keypads have a panic button, but in moments of duress, the keypad might not be convenient to access. In such situations, you can send a panic signal directly from your phone. Upon reception of this message, our Central station will dispatch the authorities directly.
In all fairness to the following statement, I've not conducted any extensive polling, but in the cases that I have asked what interactive clients think of the service, all accounts have been positive. Take that for whatever you think it's worth, and be sure to reach out if you would like to take a test drive. Learn more at www.alarm.com/us/cix
